About a month ago it was Mother's Day and I was excited. I was SO EXCITED that the week before Mother's Day at a bonfire with Matt and Stacie I announced that they had one week to figure something out. A WHOLE WEEK forewarning... even though Mother's Day is not random since it appears on the calendar each year at the exact same time. Anyways, I was excited. Evan asked me what I wanted and I declared fish and a hanging flower basket.
As Mother's Day approached Evan announced he was not only going to make supper but make breakfast and lunch. The excitement was building... so when the day actually came I had high expectations! I got to sleep in until about 8ish which combated the yucky weather. We missed breakfast and lunch time came. Evan stood in the kitchen looked at me in the eyes and said "I'm panicking... chips and salsa?!" Okay, I'm not going to complain. Next we went and bought flowers and they are the prettiest plants that I ever did see :).
To close out the night Evan whipped out some frozen fish. Briggs and I watched in wonder as he laid the cooked fish on our plates. He took a step back and slapped his forehead realizing he had not seasoned the fish and forgotten to make rice. So we only had unseasoned fish laying before us. Oh well.. then he took a step back and mindfully thought about what the side should be... I could see the lightbulb go on. He walked over to the cupboard reached for the top shelf and grabbed the Goldfish. I probably looked like a fish with my mouth gapping open. Evan took a handful and plopped it down on my plate and said "you loved themes!"
The most memorable Mother's Day meal ever... and Father's Day standards weren't going to be hard to be met :)
Father's Day
I raised his Fish Meal and provided him Ramen for lunch and a steak, homemade pie, and corn for supper. AND a fire pit. Winner, winner, steak dinner!
